Today, the most profitable McDonald’s in the world is the one on the Champs Élysées in Paris with a turnover of 13.5 million euros.

 McDonald's

1.825 million customers per year !

As surprising as it may seem, the most profitable McDonald’s restaurant is not located in the United States but in France! More precisely in Paris since it is the Mc Donald’s restaurant on the Champs Elysées. 1.825 million customers per year! This establishment, opened in 1988 and which has between 180 employees in low season and 230 in high season, « has totaled a turnover of 13.5 million euros in turnover in 2014″, which makes it « the first restaurant of the chain in the world in terms of activity, ahead of the one located in the Disney Village in Marne-la-Vallée, that of Place Pouchkine in Moscow, and that of La Défense near Paris », explains Nawfal Trabelsi , President of McDonald’s France.

A first restaurant in 1979

The first McDonald’s restaurant in France was opened on September 17, 1979, Place des Halles in Strasbourg. In a brand new shopping center, a fast food restaurant serves its first hamburgers. Its name is still unknown in France: McDonald’s. This Strasbourg McDonald’s still exists. A small metal plaque reminds the visitor of this little moment in the chain’s history. Yet rather hostile to Americanization, the French have become the first burger consumers in the world per capita behind the United States. It’s simple, every year 1.2 billion hamburgers are consumed in France, or nearly 40 burgers per second. Having become a must, the burger then supplanted our traditional ham and butter sandwich. On the menu of more than 85% of French restaurants, the burger has found its place in culinary guides and has been reinvented over the past forty years to adapt to French gastronomic culture.
