The ranking of the list of the 2023 world’s best restaurants has been unveiled, French people are at the top of the list.
First place for Guy Savoy
The ranking of La Liste of the world’s best restaurants is the result of an algorithm taking into account the ratings and rankings of gastronomic guides, press reviews and customer satisfaction around the world. For the first time, a new trio of restaurants share 1st place in the Top 1000 La Liste 2023 and are crowned “Best restaurants in the world”. 18 champions occupy the first three steps of the podium. For the sixth consecutive time, “Guy Savoy at the Monnaie de Paris” comes out on top, tied this year with Eric Ripert, the French chef at the “Bernardin” in New York, and with Björn Frantzén, the Swede who runs the kitchens of “Frantzen” in Stockholm. The latter has undoubtedly benefited from the internationalization of its “brand”, with openings in Thailand, Singapore and London.
Damages of the pandemic
Another spectacular leap was that of “Plénitude”, Arnaud Donckele’s restaurant at the “Cheval Blanc Paris” hotel, which rose to the podium by gaining 45 places compared to last year! Note that “Les Prés d’Eugénie“, the restaurant of Michel Guérard, sixth in the world last year according to the algorithm, ranks fifth this year. Finally, it should be noted that of the 30,000 establishments listed last year by La List, nearly 4,000 closed their doors, compared to a few hundred in normal times. If in France the sector was rather well protected, the pandemic has obviously done damage in countries like Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Australia or Israel.
