The Parc de Bagatelle is a haven of greenery and calm conducive to relaxation and walking for families and lovers.

A bet between Marie-Antoinette and her brother-in-law
Created in 1775, The Parc de Bagatelle, is one of the capital’s four botanical gardens. Bagatelle Park was born in 1775, in the heart of the Bois de Boulogne, in rather amusing conditions: the creation of the park would be the result of a bet between Queen Marie-Antoinette and her brother-in-law, the Count of Artois ! The latter would have simply challenged him to complete the construction of this former royal park in less than 100 days… A successful bet since the castle and the park were rebuilt in just 64 days.
Built in 64 days
The pavilions, the Empress’ kiosk or even the orangery (built after the French Revolution) reveal their classic beauty. Not to be missed: the Chinese pagoda, a factory added in the 19th century which affirms the Anglo-Chinese character of the decoration of Bagatelle. On the garden side, varied trees and flora make up a harmonious and diversified whole with many small bodies of water embellished with artificial caves, small bridges, water mirrors and waterfalls. Fifteen remarkable trees, cedars, oaks, beeches, plane trees or pines provide welcome shade. Bagatelle Park is famous for its rose garden where 10,000 flowers from 1,200 different species grow to admire when they bloom in late spring.
An immense variety of plants
Other gardens are to be discovered along the way: garden of curiosities, Mediterranean garden, flowerbed of the orangery, garden of presenters or garden of irises, highlighting the immense variety of plants adorning Bagatelle. Wildlife also invites itself into the lush and colorful vegetation of the beds and flowerbeds. You may be lucky enough to come across a squirrel, a peacock or even a woodpecker ! On site, everything is planned to simplify your visit with the presence of many services (bicycle park, drinking water fountains, refreshment bar).
