Thomas Bangalter, ex-member of Daft punk returns to music with the soundtrack of Angelin Preljocaj‘s show.

A contemporary ballet
With Mythologies, choreographer Angelin Preljocaj and musician Thomas Bangalter (founder of the group Daft Punk) explore our contemporary rituals and the founding myths that shape our collective imagination. Like the Impressionists, they wish to evoke what is nestled in the recesses of our lives, through our ideals and our beliefs, thus bringing ancient mythologies into dialogue with those of our time.
A change of musical universe
After a first dance at the Opéra national de Bordeaux, the show is now being exported until the end of October to the Théâtre du Châtelet, where the orchestral compositions of Thomas Bangalter will resonate. A real risk-taking for the producer accustomed to the production of electronic music.
First musical creation after Daft Punk
This creation will bring together ten dancers from the Paris Opera ballet and ten dancers from Ballet Preljocaj, in a choreographic approach to different ancient and contemporary mythologies. In terms of music, this is Thomas Bangalter’s first creation since Daft Punk stopped in 2021. Angelin Preljocaj thought of the Frenchman because he had already used Daft Punk in a previous creation. Preljocaj then imagined “a mixture of classical and electronic, but Thomas Bangalter wanted to break with electro, and he preferred to compose for the orchestra, with his organic side”.
