When we think of all the films shot in Paris, Amélie is undoubtedly one of those who have had the greatest impact on our memories. This film was a great source of inspiration for me as a photographer. The madeleine would have been created in 1755 in the castle of Commercy. King Stanislas of Poland received Voltaire and Madame de Châtelet there. For the occasion, the king asked his cook, Madeleine, to bake a unique cake. So she made cakes in the shape of a shell, which were appreciated by the guests. King Stanislaus of Poland appreciated them so much that he sent a package to his daughter Marie, wife of Louis XV. Marie fell under the spell of these cakes and decided to name them Madeleine, in homage to the one who had created them. The madeleine has since become an essential cake. It comes in different shapes: elongated, round or shell-shaped. Eaten as a snack or with friends, dipped in a bowl of hot chocolate, the madeleine is always a delight for young and old alike. Located on Place Louis Lépine, between Sainte-Chapelle and Notre Dame Cathedral, the flower market (marché aux fleurs)has delighted all botanical lovers since 1830. Composed of period cast iron pavilions, it allows a pleasant and atypical walk among the flowers, trees and plants. The market took the official name of “Reine Elizabeth II Flower Market” in 2014 during the Queen’s last official visit to France. Every Sunday it gives way to the bird market. Located at 2 rue de l’Abreuvoir, in the heart of Montmartre, at the foot of the vineyards, La Maison Rose attracts attention for its picturesque side, its pink color and its green shutters. This house belonged to Laure Gargallo, who was one of the models of Pablo Picasso during his blue period. She painted it pink and transformed it into a small canteen for her artist friends. Its name is also inspired by one of the paintings of the painter Maurice Utrillo dating from the 1900s. Today the Maison Rose is a trestaurant which offers a small menu but composed only of local products and saion.

The café de Flore is legendary, it has been the place for all literary meetings and philosophical debates for almost 50 years. It opened its doors in 1887. Around 1913, Guillaume Appolinaire settled there and transformed the ground floor into an editorial room. He created the magazine “Les soirées de Paris”. In the 1930s, it was the turn of writers, painters and intellectuals to take over the premises. Simone de Beauvoir, Jacques Prévert, Jean-Paul Sartre were among the regulars of the Flora.
