Louis Vuitton paid tribute on January 20 to Virgil Abloh, artistic director of its men’s fashion who died in November 2021 at the age of 41, by presenting his latest collection in Paris.
A spectacular setting
It was an audience moved to tears who went to the Carreau du Temple in Paris on January 20, 2022 in the spectacular setting of the fashion show entitled Louis Dreamhouse. His wife Shannon Abloh, alongside the Arnault family, top Naomi Campbell and Natalia Vodianova, champion Venus Williams and singer J. Balvin were present to honor him. A few days earlier, the luxury brand’s social networks announced the event with a quote from the artistic director who has always created and lightly mixed luxury and street “Humor is a gateway for humanity”.

Luxury streetwear
Skirts, laces and heeled boots are omnipresent in the collection, mixing streetwear and classic cuts, but also unisex lines with kaftans and djellabas. From the architectural dreams of Chirico to the images of the impressionist painter Gustave Courbet are printed on frock coats and coat dresses to give a twist to this luxury streetwear. The models accompanied by dancers, dressed in masculine bridal outfits, cherub wings in the back, to close the show. Another strong event in tribute to the designer, Louis Vuitton joined forces with Sotheby’s for the charity auction of 200 pairs of Louis Vuitton and Nike “Air Force 1” sneakers designed by Virgil Abloh, at a minimum of $2,000. Proceeds will be donated to his “Post-Modern” foundation, a scholarship supporting the training of promising students of African-American and African descent.
