A dive into the 18th century for one night, does that tell you ? This is possible in the heart of the Marais district in Paris, at the Caron de Beaumarchais hotel.

A tribute to Beaumarchais
This hotel offers a dive into the 18th century, for a tribute to an illustrious neighbor, Beaumarchais, author among others of the Marriage of Figaro. Everything contributes to recreating the atmosphere of a boudoir: tapestries and floral fabrics in all the rooms, precious powdered paintings, sparkling chandeliers, chiseled furniture, and a harp placed at the entrance. This exquisite hotel is located in the heart of the Marais, near a wide choice of restaurants and cafes. The hearty breakfast served in the room is a plus !

A nice discovery
Opened in March 1993, the hotel was intended as a tribute to Beaumarchais (1732 – 1799) and his time. The search for authentic and significant works and documents has guided the entire evolution of the hotel and its decor. The discovery, during the works, of a first edition of the Marriage of Figaro, Beaumarchais’ most famous piece, led to the first decoration of the rooms. The binding of the book in poor condition made it possible to separate the pages and to integrate them for each room in frames in the form of a jumble among handwritten letters, book engravings, notarial deeds, a whole lot of original documents from the 18th century purchased from a merchant of old papers in Lyon. Over the years, original works, mostly 18th century furniture and objects, have completed the decor. More than 15 years of searching without from the Hôtel Drouot to the flea market were necessary to find the gaming table, the pianoforte, the harp, the sculpture, the chandelier in the reception, the two lanterns in the bay windows… .
