Aqua Mater is a photographic exhibition by Sebastião Salgado in Paris. It takes place in a monumental bamboo pavilion on the Parvis de la Défense and focuses on the themes of water and ecology.

The photography exhibition will take place in an imposing bamboo pavilion . Internationally renowned, he is known for creating complex bamboo structures. At La Défense, in the heart of Simon Velez’s huge bamboo pavilion, a collection of photographs on the theme of Water is about to be unveiled. Humanity’s most precious common good, water is nevertheless an increasingly threatened resource. Precisely, this is what Sebastião Salgado highlights in his work. From the Amazon to Iceland, via the Arctic, the Franco-Brazilian photographer has traveled the world for more than thirty years, with the aim of capturing in images the most beautiful places on the planet.

Dim lighting, musical and sound ambiance by the composer François Bernard Mâche, tropical mist and thousands of candles plunge visitors into an atmosphere of serenity. A humanist photographer
Born in 1944 in Brazil and raised on a farm in Minas Gerais, Sebastião Salgado is a Franco-Brazilian humanist photographer, one of the most important artists in his discipline. From immaculate landscapes to the environment of men, he reveals a world of beauty to us through his photographs, and makes us rediscover the lungs of the planet from a new angle. Salgado is also the founder of the Terra Institute which aims to contribute to the restoration of our planet. Since the 2000s, this organization has resulted in the planting of 2.5 million trees on the land of his childhood.
