The Montmartre harvest festival is an unmissable event for all the inhabitants of Paris, good humor and conviviality guaranteed !

A wine production since the 12th century

For more than 80 years, the Montmartre Harvest Festival has celebrated the vines and the territory of Montmartre. But it was from the 12th century that the ladies of the Abbey of Montmartre planted the first vines and developed wine production. Before urbanization and housing flourished on the Butte, it was three-quarters covered with vines. They disappeared completely in 1928 to be reborn in 1933 in order to prevent a real estate project and preserve the land located at the corner of rue des Saules and rue Saint-Vincent. Thanks to the mobilization of the inhabitants of the district, vines – offered by many municipalities – are planted by the city of Paris.

Every 2nd weekend of October since 1934

From 1934, the vines were celebrated in Montmartre. Since then, every 2nd weekend of October, Montmartre celebrates its wine-growing tradition and welcomes the arrival of the new cuvée from its vineyard. Every year at this time, the whole neighborhood celebrates in the city of Paris. Between exhibitions, live shows, music, parades, balls and without forgetting the tastings of wines and local products, the few days devoted to the harvest festival are very full. From 2008, the Town Hall wanted to extend the Festival to all the districts of the 18th in order to promote, via a rich and varied program, the extreme dynamism of the arrondissement.
