The musical 42nd Street finally returns to Paris, on the stage of the Théâtre du Châtelet, in the heart of Paris.

Behind the scenes of show business

This musical, which caused a sensation as soon as its iconic curtain rose, goes behind the scenes of show business. Star caprice, exhausting rehearsals, love affairs, financial difficulties, all situations are pretexts for great dance and tap numbers. Directed and choreographed by Stephen Mear, a regular in successful musicals (London, New York , Paris), to music by Harry Warren, 42nd Street is a show of excess throughout its sixteen scenes in the purest tradition of Broadway shows. Perfectly choreographed numbers, frenzied music and songs, costumes and sequins… all the ingredients are there to make sure you have a great family evening for the holiday season.

42nd street, a timeless story and musical

Based on the eponymous 1933 film, and based on the novel by Bradford Ropes, the show tells the story of Julian Marsh, a Broadway producer, who a few years after the financial crisis of 1929 tries to put on a musical for back to center stage. At the same time, we follow the adventures of Peggy Sawyer, a young singer who came from her native province to pursue a career in New York. Hired as a backup dancer for the revue, she unwittingly injures the show’s star, Dorothy Brook, who is forced to leave the stage forever. Peggy is then chosen to replace her… Will she be able to take up the challenge? A euphoric spectacle for the end of the year celebrations. It’s up to you to discover it on the magnificent stage of the Châtelet !
