Inspired by the original tale, the National Opera of Ukraine tells a story of friendship and bravery through the journey of young Gerda who embarks on an epic journey to find her friend. Gerda and Kai, two childhood friends, live peacefully in their snowy village. One day, Kai receives an evil mirror shard that makes him cold and numb, like ice. Gerda watches helplessly as she transforms. When he disappears, the little girl undertakes a long journey, filled with adventures and encounters, to find her friend. Her unfailing determination leads her to the coldest lands of the northern kingdom, beyond the Arctic Circle where the mysterious Snow Queen lives in her palace of ice…
