The choreographer of West Side Story
Jerome Robbins considered the Paris Opera Ballet as his second family after the New York City Ballet.
Traveling companion of George Balanchine and choreographer of West Side Story, Jerome Robbins is a major figure of American neo-classicism. Three of his works in the repertoire of the Paris Opera Ballet highlight his inimitable blend of lightness and spirit.
A friendly nod to Broadway musicals
On the jazzy sounds of Maurice Ravel, En Sol throws a friendly nod to Broadway musicals in a sunny beach setting. In the lyrical setting of Chopin’s Nocturnes, In the Night puts classical technique at the service of a moving narration. Three couples give substance to three moments of love life: discovery, fulfillment and trouble, against the backdrop of a starry night. Subtitled “The misfortunes of each”, The Concert features characters that look like they have escaped from a comic book in a series of expressive and humorous sketches.
