Paris has never lacked extraordinary chocolatiers, but when Cédric Grolet decides to open a chocolate boutique of his own, the entire pastry world pays attention. Known for his ultra-realistic fruit pastries, sculptural viennoiseries, and long queues outside his Paris shops, Grolet is now taking his signature style into the world of chocolate—and the result is already creating a buzz.
I had the chance to get a first glimpse of this new chocolaterie at the Salon du Chocolat in Paris earlier this November, where a dedicated stand showcased some of the creations that will be available in the boutique. Even in the crowded aisles of the salon, Grolet’s universe stood out immediately: elegant, playful, precise, and unmistakably luxurious.

A Chocolaterie with a Personality: Meet “Cédricou”
One of the star attractions was the adorable mascot of the chocolaterie, Cédricou—a small, round chocolate character inspired by Grolet himself. The chocolatier has always had a talent for storytelling through pastry, and this mascot brings a touch of humor and softness to an otherwise ultra-chic brand.
Visitors couldn’t resist smiling, taking photos, and, of course, tasting the products shaped or inspired by this new chocolate icon.

Among the stand’s biggest hits was the signature chocolate spread featuring Cédricou on the label. Thick, glossy, and intensely flavorful, it promises to be one of the boutique’s future best-sellers. It struck that perfect balance: playful branding, paired with the refined taste and technical mastery expected from Grolet.

What to Expect Inside the Boutique
If the Salon du Chocolat preview is any indication, the new shop will offer:
- Refined pralines with Grolet’s signature textures
- Chocolate bars with a sculptural, minimalist aesthetic
- Delicate bonbons showcasing seasonal flavors
- Creative spreads, including the already-famous Cédricou jar
- Limited-edition creations that play with shape, trompe-l’œil effects, and visual surprise
Everything is presented with Grolet’s trademark combination of precision and whimsy—high gastronomy with a sense of play.
A New Destination for Chocolate Lovers in Paris
For Parisian gourmets and curious travelers alike, this new chocolaterie is shaping up to be a destination in itself. Grolet’s pâtisseries drew international fans who would travel hours just for a tasting; his chocolate creations will undoubtedly inspire the same devotion.
The boutique promises to bring something fresh to the Paris chocolate scene:
a blend of tradition and modern design, irresistible flavors, and the creative spark that has turned Cédric Grolet into one of the world’s most influential pastry chefs.
As soon as the chocolaterie opens its doors, it will undoubtedly become one of the most photographed and visited gourmet addresses in Paris—and I’ll be sharing a full photo reportage on French Glimpses to take you inside this delicious new universe.
