In April 2022, the Orsay Museum will host the first major exhibition dedicated to Antoni Gaudí organized in France in Paris for fifty years.

The Musée d’Orsay offers us a trip to Barcelona, ​​and more precisely in the universe constructed by Gaudí. A major exhibition honors this renowned architect, master of Art Nouveau, from April 12 to July 17, 2022. The Musée d’Orsay wishes to highlight the creativity and considerable influence of Gaudí in Catalonia from 19th and 20th century, by unveiling his major works, from parks to palaces, including the unmissable Sagrada Familia in Barcelona.

An immersive museography

In an immersive museography, it will show the spectacular creations of this singular artist, notably presenting sets of furniture never exhibited in France. The exhibition will focus on showing the architect’s creative process amidst an exceptional local artistic profusion linked to “Modernism” or the Art Nouveau movement in Spain. Gaudi’s studio, his numerous collaborators, his sophisticated working techniques will constitute the guiding principle of the exhibition to make the public understand the extraordinary capacity for invention of the architect who challenged all the creation of the moment.

The architect’s workshop

We will discover in an ambitious course, the architect’s workshop, his innovative working techniques, his collaborators and his grandiose projects. Drawings, models and furniture will offer us a gateway to the monumental universe of this unique artist. The works presented in this immersive exhibition reveal Antoni Gaudí’s fascination with colors and space. Seven of Gaudí’s creations are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A recognition of the genius of this man who changed the face of Catalonia, at a time when social and political upheavals were pushing artists to innovate and evolve.
