At Berthillon, quality rhymes with Passion . For more than 60 years, the ice cream maker from Île Saint-Louis has been delighting us with his sorbets and ice creams.
High quality products
Since the mid-1950s, gourmets flock to taste the artisanal creations of the Berthillon ice cream parlor. It all started in the heart of Paris, Raymond Berthillon, who had just celebrated his 30th birthday, ran a hotel café, “Le Bourgogne”, at 31 rue Saint Louis en l’île. Always looking for new experiences, he imagines putting back into service the ice turbine he had acquired a few years earlier. That day, without his realizing it, the family saga was born. Raymond Berthillon makes his ice cream with high quality products : whole milk, eggs, fresh cream that he goes to buy at dawn at the halls, at the Baltard pavilion on rue Berger. He relaunched sorbet, a product of oriental origin: the sharbet of the sultans, without cream, pure fruit, pure sugar.

Promoted by the Gault et Millau
The notoriety, the fame of Berthillon begin to cross the borders of the “village” of the Saint-Louis island. Salted butter caramel, Tiramisu or chocolate ice cream, wild strawberry sorbet, wild blackberry or rose-flavoured raspberry, … many flavors have been on the menu for more than 60 years. As early as 1961, the Gault et Millau promoted it “This amazing ice cream parlor that hides in a bistro on the Ile Saint-Louis”, all of Paris came running. Craftsmanship & Family: the winning combo Whether it is ice cream or sorbets, the products chosen are healthy, without preservatives, the technique is artisanal and unchanged for more than 50 years. These divine delicacies are still made every day on the Île Saint-Louis, with a reasoned production of 1,000 liters maximum. The queue never ends…
