A Zombie movie
After “The Forgotten Prince”, an adventure comedy with Omar Sy, and “The artist”, Michel Hazanavicius surprises once again by offering a zombie movie. His new film, Cut! [previously titled Z (Comme Z)], with Bérénice Bejo and Romain Duris, will be released in cinemas on June 15, 2022. But before that, the film will open the 2022 Cannes Film Festival on May 17. Cut! is screened there out of competition.
A change of name because of war in Ukraine
Michel Hazanavicius chose to rename his film since the letter Z recently took on a new symbol. Indeed, the letter Z appears on the Russian tanks which invade Ukraine and has become a sign of support for the invasion of Ukraine by Russia. In 2022, Michel Hazanavicius is where we did not really expect him: among the zombies. Cut! is the French adaptation of the Japanese film Don’t Cut, released in 2019, and directed by Shin’ichirô Ueda.
Romain Duris and Berenice Bejo
Michel Hazanavicius entrusted the creation of the soundtrack of his film to the multi-award-winning composer Alexandre Desplat. Cut! by Michel Hazanavicius notably features Romain Duris in the role of a director of a horror film, Bérénice Béjo as a make-up artist. Grégory Gadebois (The Game, Waiting for Bojangles), Jean-Pascal Zadi (Tous simply noir, Craignos) and Finnegan Oldfield (Marvin ou la Belle éducation, Bang Gang) are also in the cast. The new comedy from the director of The Artist tells the story of the making of a low-budget film that is going to be disrupted by a zombie attack. The comedy with Bérénice Bejo, Romain Duris or Grégory Gadebois, will be released in cinemas on June 15, 2022.
