The Franco-Belgian actress Virginie Efira will present the opening and closing ceremonies of the 75th Cannes Film Festival from May 17 to 28.
She came in Cannes last year
It’s official, next May Virginie Efira will be the mistress of ceremonies at the 75th Cannes Film Festival. The 44-year-old Franco-Belgian actress will present the opening and closing evening of the Festival which will take place from May 17 to 28, 2022 on the Croisette, the organizers announced on the official Twitter account of the event. A role for which she also received a César nomination last February.
Top Gun and Elvis
Virginie Efira succeeds Doria Tillier. The actress and ex-miss weather of Canal + had animated last year a closing ceremony to say the least epic. The president of the jury, Spike Lee, had made an incredible dumpling by mistakenly revealing the winner of the Palme d’Or at the very beginning of the ceremony. For this 75th edition, the Festival will return to its usual dates, traditionally located at the end of spring. In 2021, the high mass of the cinema had exceptionally taken place in July because of the pandemic. The Cannes Film Festival will unveil its selection on April 14. For now, we know Top Gun Maverick starring Tom Cruise will be opening, and Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis and George Miller’s Three Thousand Years of Longing starring Idris Elba and Tilda Swinton will star. The composition of the jury for the 75th Cannes Film Festival which will take place next May has not yet been announced, but the official selection is due to be unveiled on April 14.
