A port for fishermen and boatmen

Stone houses with wooden balconies, flowery streets of wisteria and geraniums… It is called « the pearl of Lake Geneva. » Dominating the edges of the lake which made the village a port for fishermen and boatmen, the square keep is one of the vestiges of the medieval past of Yvoire which celebrated, in 2006, the 700 years of its fortifications erected by Amédée V le Grand, Count of Savoy. In the heart of the village, be sure to visit the Jardin des Cinq Sens. Classified as a Remarkable Garden by the Ministry of Culture, this little paradise of greenery invites you to a poetic discovery of plants thanks to your 5 senses. Everything is done for your pleasure : the pleasure of the eyes of the colorful painting offered by the composition of flowers, the pleasure of caressing the softness of the foliage, the pleasure of breathing in the scent of a rose, the pleasure of listening to the birds which and the murmur of the water, pleasure finally to rediscover the true tastes of your childhood…

Yvoire

A picturesque site

A flowery medieval village, Yvoire has been rewarded many times and is classified among the Most Beautiful Villages of France for the charm of its narrow streets which lead to Lake Geneva and its old stones which invite the visitor to immerse themselves in the history of Savoy. In the fortified town, you will travel from the Middle Ages by discovering the gates and ramparts that protected the village and castle, up to modern times to discover a picturesque site that has very well preserved its character. A true sentinel on Lake Geneva, the Château d’Yvoire is undoubtedly the most photographed building in Yvoire, due to its majestic silhouette. However, it is not possible to visit this castle, built from 1306 and then renovated in the 20th century after being the victim of a fire which had ravaged it in 1591. Finally, take advantage of one of the terraces to sip a drink or dine facing the grandiose panorama of Lake Geneva, the Jura, Switzerland and the Alps. Yvoire is a magical place that combines authenticity and history. Time stands still…
