Iggy Pop

Iggy Pop is Francophile and has never hidden it. The mythical singer of the Stooges therefore continues his love affair with France: “I always wanted to try it. I was in Paris to present ‘Preliminaries’, my previous album, when a man told me given a CD of French songs. Musically, it allowed me to move towards something totally new”.
In this album called “Aprรจs”, released in 2012, the mythical singer of the Stooges covers La Javanaise by Serge Gainsbourg, “Et si tu n’existait pas” by Joe Dassin,” La Vie en rose” by Edith Piaf,” Les Passantes” by Georges Brassens and” Syracuse”‘ by Henry Salvador. The album also includes covers of Cole Porter and the Beatles.
After having taken over Les Feuilles mortes by Yves Montand, the rockstar is therefore still trying out the language of Moliรจre.

A new version for the 10th anniversary of the album

Singing in French does not scare Iggy Pop, as recently illustrated by his covers of “Feuilles mortes“, as well as Henri Salvador’s “Je sais que tu sais“, in 2009, in the album “Preliminaries” which had been inspired by Michel Houellebecq’s book “The possibility of an island”.
“I discovered French culture in the years 1976-1977”, explains the singer to Parisian. “At that time, I did a lot of concerts in France. And then, through literature: Malraux, Genรชt, Sartreโ€ฆ Or even fashion and music, via Brel, Ferrรฉ. It happened little by little. Jim Jarmush, with whom I shot the film ‘Dead Man‘ in 1995, introduced me to French cinema.”
On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the album, the artist decided to do things in due form and announced the release of a special edition of the opus. A new edition with a new title which is added to the tracklist as well as a new cover created for the event.
