A new series tracing the meeting of Christian Dior and Coco Chanel is expected in 2022 on Apple TV+. The actress Juliette Binoche will play the French seamstress Coco Chanel.
Paris during the war
French fashion from the 1940s will soon be at the heart of a new series produced by Apple TV+. The New Look, is a fiction inspired by real events and conceived as a real thriller. The series, shot in the French capital, will immerse us in a Paris occupied by the Nazis, and will focus on the rivalry between two icons of French fashion: Coco Chanel, who reigned supreme during the Occupation with her luxurious pieces, and Christian Dior, the couturier who gradually eclipsed his colleague on the fashion scene. On the casting side, Australian actor Ben Mendelsohn (“Rogue One”) was chosen to play Christian Dior.

As for Gabrielle Chanel, the production has set its sights on the French actress, Juliette Binoche. In addition to these two big names in fashion, Apple TV+ also promises the presence of Pierre Balmain, Yves Saint Laurent, Hubert de Givenchy, Cristobal Balenciaga and Pierre Cardin, among others. Filming should begin this spring in the capital, but for the moment, no release date has been communicated.
An international actress
The talented French actress, Juliette Binoche has also established herself in the United States. In 1997, she appeared in the film “The English Patient“, with Ralph Fiennes, Willem Dafoe and Kristin Scott Thomas. A cinematographic work that upsets her life and her career since her performance earned her the Oscar for best actress in a supporting role. Three years later, she was again nominated for her role as Vianne Rocher in “Le Chocolat” with Johnny Depp.
