The haute couture house Chanel has chosen Monaco to present its 2022-2023 cruise collection to the fashion world next May.
A destination dear to Gabrielle Chanel
Dubai, Seoul, Havana, Paris and more recently in Les Baux de Provence… So many destinations that made fashion dream during Chanel’s cruise collections, fashion rendez-vous initiated in 1910, highlighting a wardrobe designed for sunny destinations. For its cruise 2023 fashion show, the house on Rue Cambon is heading to Monaco. A destination dear to Gabrielle Chanel, who had her villa La Pausa built in 1929 on the heights of Roquebrune-Cap-Martin located not far from Monaco, the mythical Principality was also one of the favorite places of the late Karl Lagerfeld, which made La Vigie its summer residence from the end of the 1980s to the beginning of the 2000s. In 2006, the House of Chanel unveiled its Métiers d’Art collection at the Monte-Carlo Opera.

Clothes for sunny destinations
By choosing to present this show in Monaco, Chanel seals and extends the ties with the Principality. This relationship is embodied in particular by Charlotte Casiraghi, ambassador and spokesperson for the House since 2021, President and founder of the Monaco Philosophical Meetings and godmother of the Jumping International de Monte-Carlo. As a reminder, the Cruise collection has been anchored in the history of the House since the end of the 1910s, when Coco Chanel offered her customers light and comfortable models designed for different sunny destinations.
