The French have bought and listened to more music in 2021, the music market is indeed up 14.3%.
A first for 20 years

In any case, the French music market in 2021 will see double-digit growth (+14.3%), a first for 20 years, reports Agence France Presse. Streaming is not there for nothing. Indeed, the turnover of 861 million euros is driven by this practice, which “consolidates its performance” with “subscriptions up 15%”. On the audio streaming side, Snep now lists “nearly 10 million paid subscriptions, which with family accounts bring together 14 million users of premium offers”. In total, with “the 8 million users of free offers, there are 22 million French people who today listen to music in audio streaming”.

3h36 of music listening
Regarding weekly music listening, it has increased in France by almost three hours in two years. “Listening time via subscription streaming has doubled at the same time”, or 3h36 per week now. In addition, French musical productions are always very successful with French audiences. Snep notes that 18 Top 20 albums are French productions, like 83% of the 200 best sellers. Rap and urban music make up more than half of these.
