A Belle Epoque decor
Part of the plot of ‘Downton Abbey 2: A New Era’ transports us away from the British countryside. More precisely at Pradet, a village on the shores of the Mediterranean, on the outskirts of Toulon. The house where the feature film was shot is called Villa Rocabella. It was built at the end of the 19th century. Today, the estate houses a luxury hotel restored and redecorated in Belle Époque style. Fans of the series from which the film is taken will find there a new place of pilgrimage in an architectural register totally different from Highclere Castle.
The mysteries about Violet Crawley
When Violet Crawley announces to her flabbergasted family that she has just inherited a pretty villa on the Riviera, the legacy of a lover she had had in her early youth, long before her marriage, she invites you to come and discover this heritage for a vacation that the screenplay by the brilliant Julian Fellowes will surely make very lively. In this new film, the aristocratic family decides to go to this residence, perhaps in order to learn more about this announcement which hides many mysteries about Violet Crawley’s past.

The British series Dowton Abbey was a worldwide success and millions of fans eagerly await this fabulous gift of reuniting with all these endearing characters, Lord and Lady Grantham, Lady Mary, Tom Branson, Bates and Anna Bates, Mrs. Patemore and Daisy, Monsieur Carson or Thomas Barrow… The action takes place at the end of the 20s, those famous Roaring Twenties, so big and small parties should be on the agenda. Among the new protagonists of this holiday in France, we will find Nathalie Baye who plays a very charming French aristocrat, a very close friend of Lady Violet. Three new British actors will make their appearance, Hugh Dancy, Laura Haddock and Dominic West.
