Marion Cotillard and Melvil Poupaud play a brother and sister with a very complicated relationship in Arnaud Desplechin‘s new film called “Frère et soeur”. It is part of the official selection of the Cannes Film Festival 2022 and will be released in theaters on May 20, 2022. A first trailer for “Brother and Sister” was released on May 4 and tells us more about the movie. We are impatiently awaiting the Marion Cotillard / Melvil Poupaud duo.

An enigmatic trailer
Having not spoken to each other for twenty years, Louis (Melvil Poupaud) and Alice (Marion Cotillard) are forced to meet again at their parents’ funeral. She is an actress, he is a teacher and a poet. Their brother-sister relationship boils down to hate. But why ? The trailer remains enigmatic. Alice whispers that she “will never forgive Louis”. “It took me ten years to realize that hatred had taken over (…) The more his notoriety grew, the more I was torn”, continues the young woman. As for Louis, he wonders why his sister’s hatred is still so present…until they accidentally run into it at the supermarket… Remember that Arnaud Desplechin has often walked the Cannes red carpet – in 2015, he received the SACD Prize of the Directors’ Fortnight there for Trois souvenirs de ma jeunesse.
