La Folie Douce is an atypical hotel due to its geographical location at the foot of Mont Blanc, in the magnificent town of Chamonix, but not only…

Built in 1901

La Folie Douce is located in a former palace “Le Savoy”. This sumptuous building was built in 1901 and is part of the history of Chamonix. The owners are Adolphe Tairraz and Sarah Couttet (Manager of the Grand Hôtel Couttet). The success is almost immediate. The Palace attracts many travelers from all over the world. The name is also inspired by the “Savoy Hotel”, a prestigious establishment located in London.
After the 1st World War, the Savoy hosted many parties during the “Roaring Twenties“. A terrace is added after the 2nd World War. We owe this achievement to the architect Henri Jacques Le Same, well known in Haute Savoie and Megève. The establishment was bought by the businessman Élie de Rothschild.

An atypical hotel

It was then managed by the European Tourism Club from 1963. This company joined Club Méditerrannée from the 1970s. Club Med Chamonix was enlarged in 1999. In 2018, Club Med decided to close its mythical establishment in Chamonix because the structure costs are too high The group wishes to focus on the Club villages which have direct access to the ski slopes with a large area.

La Folie Douce

Dj sets every evening

In 2018, it became La Folie Douce, an atypical hotel in which we celebrate diversity and generosity, where all generations gather around the friendly, warm and festive spirit of La Folie Douce.
To prolong the pleasure after having criss-crossed the ski slopes, DJ sets and concerts are offered every evening within the hotel in a boosted atmosphere.
The hotel does not forget the children with the “Kid’s club”. On the program: from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., from Sunday to Friday and on Sunday, Wednesday and Friday evenings from 8:00 p.m. , … all organized by our partner IloveKidsClub
Unique experiences and unforgettable activities tailor-made for them and focused on a different theme every day !
