Olivia Ruiz returns to her first love, music, with a new album, the surprising first single of which has just been revealed.

Absent from the music scene since 2016
Olivia Ruiz goes back to basics. Absent from the music scene since the release of her last album, A nos corps aimants, in 2016, the artist had tried her hand in other creative fields. Among them are a first novel, The Commode of Colored Drawers (JC Lattès, 2020), which had met with great success in bookstores, followed by a second, Listen to the rain fall (JC Lattès, 2022), and even a show entitled Mouth sewn. At the heart of it, she looked back on the journey of her family, who fled Franco’s Spain. This desire to reconnect with his roots is also found in his upcoming project. “There’s a lot of Spanish in the future album. It brought me closer to who I am,” she explained to the newspaper Le Parisien.
More Rosalía and Kendrick Lamar than French song,
Olivia Ruiz’s sixth album is the result of three years of work. Accompanied by Nino Vella and Vincha, two musicians, she reinvented her way of working. “I was very fulfilled learning with these young people and their new methods,” she assures. With a new title La Réplique, released on November 15, the 43-year-old artist once again affirms the desire to reconnect with her roots by mixing French and Spanish. She also innovates, and adapts to today’s music with electro influences without losing her personality. A more rhythmic style in which we didn’t expect it but which suits it very well. A metamorphosis. “I wanted something explosive, concerts, dancing, to make music that I listen to at home – more Rosalía and Kendrick Lamar than French song,” she explains. “There is a lot of Spanish in the future album. It brought me closer to who I am,” she explained to Le Parisien, who was able to listen to the single exclusively. The album will also talk about women “or address them”, their bodies, their relationships…
