This street opened in 1790 received its current name by a decree of February 1, 1877. It was referred to as “Madame”, that is to say Marie-Joséphine de Savoie, the wife of “Monsieur” who was the name given to the king’s brother (Louis XIV), the future Louis XVIII 🙂
